MFG’s Presentation at IT Governance’s Partner Event

MFG Managed Encryption were the proud sponsors of IT Governance’s first partner event last week (Friday 28th April 2017) at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium, just up the road to our UK headquarters.

Many of our partners and clients are turning to us for advice and guidance on staying abreast of new rules and regulations around data security. Our delighted partnership with IT Governance allows us to provide our encryption solution, supported by expert advice on compliance and regulatory requirements.

A data security solution backed by the ISO and Cyber Essentials

We ourselves have taken the steps to become ISO27001 accredited and we’re also on the path to gaining our Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, which is backed by the UK Government.

With the GDPR just over a year away and the need for data security becoming more important than ever, there has never been a better time to partner with Managed Encryption.

Mark Flinders, Managing Director of MFG Managed Encryption (and Reading FC fan) gave a presentation at the event, which started with a short video illustrating life and technology over the last 20 years. The video seemed to capture the attention of a few event attendees. Aside from the UK chart hit songs, it’s very interesting to see just how much has changed – predominantly with technology, the Internet and the growth of transferable data.

The modern complex reality

Together with the growth and evolution of technology, a modern complex reality has developed. Data breaches are on the rise and the fines for businesses following a data breach are increasing.

Almost 20 years ago now, The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) was passed in UK Parliament and defined the law on the processing of data consumers. Although some revisions have been made along the way, the DPA 1998 has remained the main legislation that governs data protection until today. Today, in 2017 we’re preparing for the GDPR, which comes into practice on 25th May 2018.
